These are a favorite of mine too! We made potato and onion ones up N. this weekend. A special memory for me is that my mom made these on TV for the "Mary Brubaker Show" out of Des Moines, she had won a contest. She called them Hobo Dinner, she used a beef patty, potato, carrots and onion slices, salt and pepper, 1 T. butter, 1 t. water. In the winter 400/ 45 - 60 min. or the grill in the summer. A chicken breast is great too. Because it was on during the day, my gradeschool brought in a TV and the whole school filled the hallway to watch my mom make the recipe,that was cool, otherwise we wouldn't have seen it.

Thanks for this information. My husband found some on sale a few years ago and brought them home. I planted them--never dreaming that all 14 would come up! My site was not the best and they need to be moved. Now I know when and how! Thanks.

Good post, my friend, as always. I did go to a cemetery this afternoon after work that has an avenue of flags. I walked around looking to see what I could find veteran wise. I found one that was a medal of honor and purple heart w/olc reciepiant. WOW! Am truly thankful for many who served as both hubby and I served AF years ago. Hugs and blessings.

We always made these on camping trips when I was a kid! They were always a favorite with everyone. We usually only made them with potatoes and carrots and onion as a side dish to whatever else we were grilling. My parents had a tripod grill that hung over the campfire and we'd grill these right over the fire.
